Karen Hannah is a well-travelled
fiddler having played in UK and abroad with various ensembles.
Involved in organising music events; loves playing at sessions and
ceilidhs; busy teaching fiddle, including at The Wighton Centre
in Dundee and private pupils.
Michael Kelleher - guitar accompaniment and some
cracking songs.
David Adam - from Inverness, playing the Border Pipes,
the Scottish Small Pipes, flute and a variety of whistles.
Kyle
Howie - on Great Highland, Scottish Small and Border Pipes,
plus flute, whistles and accordion. Studying at Royal Scottish Academy
of Music, Glasgow

Katherine
Liley, originally from near Portree
on Skye, teaches Scottish fiddle in Angus schools and also for the
Celtic Music Project, part of the Angus Youth Music Initiative. The
youngsters led by Katherine have the name ‘Skirdechal’.

Nathan
& Hannah Christie are two of Katherines bright young
fiddle students; they will be hosting one of the sessions with their
friends – twins Ewan & Kerr Barrack on
keyboards and Accordion.

Tannahill Weavers, Alba, also Fon a Bhord etc,; Mike has a music
shop, specialising in stringed acoustic instruments, including

sales, repairs, set-ups, repairs, advice – whatever.

Jelks - Fine Dundee singer/workshop leader, traditional
and some contempory, few songs also with autoharp. Maureen is well-known
for her Dundee songs – recorded on Coorse & Fine, Eence
upon a time, First Time Ever as well as her ballads and wee sangs.

Lesley McLuckie is a member of one of Maureen’s
singing groups in Dundee – has some very nice songs;
Ken Johnston is a friend from long ago that has
just returned to Angus after 20+ years in Kendal. Fine singer, great

he has recently joined up with Aff the Cuff. |

Wilkins, concertina and Kit Watson, fiddle.
Kit
teaches also violin and viola, also Kodaly musicianship in Angus.
Frances started playing Shetland and Scottish music on concertina
whilst living in the Shetland Islands, playing with various bands
and currently studying for a PHD in Ethnomusicology at the Elphinstone
Institute, University of Aberdeen.

Firth & Lara Findlay & Co..
Eilidh
and Lara played in 2008 as Birlin’, together with Douglas
Dorward.
In
2009 they were joined at the sessions by Nicola, another friend
and excellent musician on flute and fiddle, also former member
of The Tayside Young Fiddlers.
No
doubt some of these excellent young musicians will be attending
Alasdair Fraser Fiddle Week at Sabhal Mor Ostaig on Skye.

Ian
Kinnear makes, repairs, sets up and teaches and plays
the Scottish Small Pipes. Established as a pipe-maker in 1993,
his pipes are played all over Scotland and worldwide, can be heard

fine session up the glen – music led by Ian & friends,
but with fiddlers, guitar-players, singers and various –

The
Ferryport Fiddlers are a fun group from Angus and North Fife.
Lead by Morag-Anne Elder, who is a well-known player
and researcher, having contributed greatly to the magnificent and
monumental book - The Scottish Fiddle Music Index by Charles
Gore.
Husband Ian Flett handles the double-bass, and their
daughter Elizabeth is a fiddle-player of considerable
musical maturity well beyond her early teens. Other instruments in
the ensemble include more fiddles, guitars, mandolins etc.
